As the city of Bishkek continues to expand, new challenges arise in ensuring environmental sustainability and effective infrastructure management. One of the key needs of the capital is the modernization of wastewater treatment facilities to ensure high-quality water purification, which will enhance the quality of life for residents and protect the environment. In response to these challenges, a project has been presented that is planned to be implemented within the framework of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
On November 25, 2024, a meeting was held at the office of the Secretariat of the Investment Council under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, where the company SFC Water (Vietnam) presented a project for the modernization of wastewater treatment facilities in Bishkek. The project will be implemented in partnership with the Bishkek City Hall.
The meeting was attended by representatives from SFC Water, the PPP Center, Bishkek City Hall, and MP "Bishkekvodokanal". Participants discussed key aspects related to the design, construction, and operation of the wastewater treatment facilities, as well as measures for effective management of this important urban infrastructure.
The wastewater treatment modernization project will be presented at the next meeting of the Investment Council, where the next steps for its implementation will be reviewed, and potential support measures from both the government and private sectors will be discussed.
