Tourist Season Officially Opened in the Kyrgyz Republic: International Forum "Tourism–2030" Held on the Shores of Issyk-Kul

On May 3, 2025, the Kyrgyz Republic officially launched its new tourist season in the scenic town of Cholpon-Ata, on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul. The season’s opening took place within the framework of the International Forum “Tourism–2030: Central Asia as a Unified Tourism Space”, which brought together representatives of regional countries, international organizations, and the tourism industry.

The forum was organized by the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Adylbek Kasymaliev, who emphasized tourism as one of the key pillars of the country’s sustainable development and called for strategic interstate cooperation in this field.

A major highlight of the forum was the panel session “Investments and New Models of Tourism Development”, moderated by Uluk Kydyrbaev, Head of the Secretariat of the Investment Council under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic. The session addressed key issues such as attracting investment into the tourism sector, leveraging international projects for growth, and the essential role of the private sector in developing modern tourism infrastructure.

Speakers from national and international organizations shared their experiences and visions, including:

  • Zharkynbek Maksutov, Director of the state enterprise “Kyrgyz Courchevel”, who presented the national project “Three Peaks”;
  • Denis Krasnozhenov, Senior Advisor at GIZ, who spoke about sustainable beach management in the Issyk-Kul region;
  • Nurai Shaidildaeva, Commercial Director of Asman Airlines;
  • and other tourism business representatives.

A special guest of the forum was Ms. Cordula Wohlmuther, Director for Europe at the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), who praised the Kyrgyz Republic's efforts in promoting sustainable tourism and strengthening regional cooperation.

With open arms, strengthened international dialogue, and new opportunities for investors and travelers alike, the Kyrgyz Republic welcomes the world to its 2025 tourist season.
