You are cordially invited by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to join the webinar on Developing online commercial courts for emerging markets on Tuesday, 20 October 2020, 15:00 – 16:30 BST.
You can join by registering for the event HERE.
The webinar will be in English with translation into Russian.
COVID-19 has increased the expectation of businesses around the world that courts would embrace faster the digital transformation. There are several jurisdictions that established so-called ‘online courts’ long before the pandemic with a view to more efficient delivery of justice and to facilitate access for SMEs and litigants directly. The event is to discuss the online courts for emerging markets and piloting it on small claims. The event will gather speakers from the UK, Canada, Estonia, Ukraine and the World Bank to explore lessons learned, the legislative, institutional, and budgetary challenges and how to overcome them.
Please join us for a virtual discussion featuring:
- Richard Susskind OBE, President of the Society of Computers and Law, Technology Adviser to the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, UK
- Shannon Salter, Chair at Civil Resolution Tribunal, British Columbia, Canada
- Olena Kibenko, Judge of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court of Ukraine
- Anett Numa, Digital Transformation Adviser, e-Estonia
- Michael Strauss, General Counsel, EBRD
- Klaus Decker, Senior Public Sector Specialist, World Bank
- Michel Nussbaumer, Director, Legal Transition Team, EBRD
- Veronica Bradautanu, Principal Counsel, EBRD
